Obituary:
CARLSBAD-- A graveside service for Irene "Mickey' Wilkinson Prescott, 83, of Orchard Lane, will be 2 p.m. today at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park with the Rev. Dirk Roberson officiating.
Mrs. Prescott died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at home.
West Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Irene "Mickey" Wilkinson Prescott was born March 4, 1918, in Mena, Arkansas, to Louis Percival and Nellie Irene Price Grigsby. They later moved to a farm east of Marlow, Oklahoma.
In 1939, she moved to Carlsbad and on Feb. 22, 1941, she married Henry Wade Wilkinson. He preceded her in death on Sept 6, 1969.
She worked as a clerk for Star Pharmacy and Jackson Drug Store before working as a ranger with Carlsbad Caverns National Park. She retired in 1979 after 19 years of service.
On Nov. 8, 1972, she married Roy Prescott. He preceded her in death on Nov.23, 1997.
Mrs. Presott enjoyed writing poetry, embroidery and cross-stitch. She was raised in the Baptist faith.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by brothers Eugene L.P. Jr.; Fielding and John Grigsby; and sisters Bernice Bailey and Edith Cregger.
Survivors include sons, Douglas Mitchell of Seattle; John W Wilkinson of Carlsbad; daughter, Shirley Hayes of Carlsbad; stepsons, Roy Prescott of Yakima, Washington; Dixie Prescott of Dexter and Raymond Prescott of Roswell; Brother Bill Grigsby of Duncan, Oklahoma; sisters, Lena Pruette of Carlsbad and Mona Coursey of Seattle; fur grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
