William Dempsey "Bill" Grigsby, 87 of Duncan passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at the Lawton-Ft Sill Veterans Center in Lawton, Ok after a long battle with dementia. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 27, 2016 in the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steve Morcom officiating. Burial will follow in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home.

Bill was born October 18, 1928 at Tuttle, OK to Louis and Nellie (Price) Grigsby. He was a 1946 graduate of Bray High School, a veteran of the US Air Force, serving from 1948 to 1952 in Japan and worked for Halliburton Services in their Tools & Testing Dept, retiring in 1985 after 32 years of service On March 1, 1988, Bill married Beverly Rylant at Boone, Iowa.

Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church and the FBC "Nail Benders" a disaster relief unit serving local and distant families and churches in need. He was an active member of the Senior Citizens Center where he enjoyed playing pool and dominoes. He had many hobbies including fishing and boating, photography and poetry and was an amateur welder specializing in porch swings and flag poles. His biggest joy was being called "Grandpa Bill" by his grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his wife Beverly Grigsby of the home, three children Reeca Rylant Werner & husband Paul of Austin, X, Ronda Rylant Hailey & husband Gary of Granbury, TX and Russell (Rusty) Rylant and wife Angel of Duncan, OK; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, nieces Mary Hayes and husband Doug, Nancy Ritter, nephew Fielding Grigsby Jr and wife Joyce, all of Ardmore, OK, niece Linda Devine of Arlington, TX and many nieces and nephews that live out of state.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, L P and Nellie Grigsby; four brothers, Eugene, Louis, Fielding Sr, John Grigsby and five sisters: Irene Prescott, Mona Coursey, Lena Pruette, Bernice Bailey and Edith Cregger.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Duncan Senior Citizens Center, 1110 N 7th, Duncan, OK 73533 or Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758512, Topeka, KS 66675 or a charity of your choice.
