Tuesday, July 7, 1953

The body of Guy W. DEEDS, 56, of near Deedsville, who died suddenly Sunday at 4 p.m. from a cerebral hemorrhage arrived by air at Peru this morning from Washington, D.C.

Mr. Deeds was stricken in Washington while returning from a brief visit with his son, Bill, who is stationed at a U.S. Army camp in West Virginia. For the past several years Mr. Deeds has been engaged in farming and the drainage contracting business. Previously he was superintendent of the State Highway Garage at Winamac.

He was born May 24, 1897, at Deedsville to Mr. and Mrs. Edward DEEDS. In 1918, he was married to Mahalia KLINGERMAN.

Mr. Deeds was a veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion Post of Winamac. He was also a member of the Gilead Masonic lodge.

Surviving are his wife, at home, and the following children: Dale DEEDS, Deedsville; Mrs. John SHEPHARD, Winamac; Carter DEEDS, Deedsville; Mrs. Delores LOWE, Deedsville; Bill DEEDS, in the U. S. ARMY; Sandra and Jerry DEEDS at home and nine grandchildren.

The following brothers and sisters also survive: Dennis DEEDS, Lake Manitou; Earl DEEDS, Deedsville; Mrs. Clem MATHIAS, Logansport; Mrs. Edwin KERSCHNER, Roann; Mrs. Roy BROWN, Deedsville; Russell DEEDS, Milwaukee and Mrs. Paul PUGH, Gilead.

The body rests at the Cain funeral home, Denver, where final rites are pending.
