PERU - Services for Guy R "Bill" Deeds, 71, of Deedsville, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Miami County. He died at 12:35 am. Sunday, March 21, 2004, in Dukes Memorial Hospital, Peru. Born Feb. 17, 1933, in Pulaski County, he was the son of William "Guy and Mahala Clingaman Deeds. He was married Oct 19, 1958, to Jane Leedy, who survives. They were married for 45 years. A 1952 graduate of Deedsville High School, Mr. Deeds was a retired farmer. He was owner of Deeds & Son Excavating. He was a former county commissioner and a former member of the county council. He was drafted in March 1953 in the U.S. Army Medical Corp. Mr. Deeds was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, the Macy/Gilead Masonic Lodge #354, the Roann American Legion Post 419, the Peru Maennerchor, the IOOF Lodge in Deedsville, and the Good Samaritan RV Club. Bill enjoyed his family, grandchildren and great-grandchild. He enjoyed his dog, Polar Bear, and was an avid basketball fan of his great-niece, Ruth Riley. Also surviving are one daughter, Denise Laughlin and her companion, Mike Leavell, Deedsville; two sons, Darrel Deeds and his wife, Jean, and Eric Deeds and his wife, Pam, all of Deedsville; three grandchildren, Heather Moore and her husband, Cory, Adam Guy Deeds and Nikki Jo Deeds; three step-grandchildren, Stephanie Miller and her husband, Erik, Kevin Pickering and Ashlea Pickering; one great-grandchild, Jordan; and four step-great-grandchildren, Kalie and Westin Miller and Vladimir and Lydia Pickering; three brothers, Dale Deeds, Rochester, Lyledean Deeds and his wife, Lela, Deedsville, and Jerry Deeds and his wife, Sianna, Macy; and two sisters, Delores Lowe and her husband, Roy, Dunkirk, and Sandra Miller and her husband, Chester, Peru. His parents; one brother, Carter Deeds and his wife, Betty; one sister-in-law, Vi Deeds, one sister, Jean L Sheppard and her husband, John, preceded in death. Pastor Don Ritchey will officiate at the services. Burial, with a military committal, service, will be in Westlawn Cemetery, Denver. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p. m. today in Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, where a Masonic service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ebenezer United Methodist Church.
