Jerry E. Deeds, 75, of Macy, Indiana passed away at 5:01pm on Sunday, August 5, 2018.

He was born in Winamac, Indiana on August 11, 1942 to William “Guy” and Emma “Mahala” (Clingaman) Deeds. He married Sianna (Day) Deeds in 1963, and she survives.

Jerry graduated from Deedsville High School in 1960. He managed the Macy Standard Oil Fertilizer Plant for 15 years. He owned and operated the Macy Cropmate fertilizer plant and retired in 1998. He was a member of the Macy Masonic Lodge #523 for 54 years, the IOOF Deedsville/Rochester for 55 years, the Peru Maennerchor for 21 years, the Macy Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years, the Good Sams RV Club, and the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. He loved to go fishing each year to Canada with his fishing buddies, and enjoyed spending winters camping in Florida. Jerry was a long time avid fan of the Indiana Hoosiers and went to several basketball games with family and friends. Family was very important to him, and he loved going to all of the grandchildren’s sporting events. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Sianna, and their children Tammera (Don) Briggs of Macy, Kimberly (Shawn) Brooks of Peru, and Mindy (Greg) Linn of Mexico. Also, grandchildren Baily Briggs of Macy, Brady (Gabrielle) Briggs of Camp Lejeune, NC, Zane Briggs of Macy, Cody (Kelsey) Brooks of Peru, Cory Brooks of Peru, Avery Linn of Mexico, and Trevor Linn of Mexico; and great-grandchildren Emilee Brooks, Sianna Brooks, and Braxton Allen, all of Peru. Also, brother Lyle Dean (Lela) Deeds of Macy, sister-in-law Jane Deeds of Macy, sister Delores Lowe of Dunkirk, IN, and sister Sandy Miller of Peru.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and his wife Dale (Violetta) Deeds, brother and his wife William “Carter” (Betty) Deeds, brother Guy “Bill” Deeds, sister and her husband Jean (John) Sheppard, brother-in-law Roy Lowe, and brother-in-law Chester Miller.

Visitation will be held from 4pm – 7pm on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana, with Masonic service at 7pm. Funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday, August 10, 2018 at the funeral home, with Pastor Wayne Balmer officiating. Burial will follow at Plainview Cemetery in Macy, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church through the funeral home.
