Carter Deeds, 50, Rt. 2, Macy, died at 5:25 a.m. Thursday at Dukes Hospital in Peru.
The co-owner of Deeds Brothers Construction Company in Deedsville, he had been ill one year.
Born Dec. 7, 1924, in Porter County, he was the son of Guy William and Mahala Clingaman Deeds. The mother survives in Macy. He was married at Denver Sept. 12, 1947, to Betty Stuber, who died Oct. 4, 1974.
A resident of this area since 1944, he came from Winimac.
He was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Gilead Masonic Lodge, IOOF Lodge in Deedsville and the Indiana Drainage Board. He was on the board of directors of the Tri-Township YMCA and the Wabash Vocational School.
Surviving with the mother are two daughters, Mrs. Carletta Welch, Muncie, and Miss Debra Deeds, at home; a son, Carter II, at home; three sisters, Mrs. Jean Sheppard, Winamac; Mrs. Deloris Lowe, Dunkirk; and Mrs. Sandy Miller, Per; four brothers, Dale of Deedsville, and Lyle, Guy, and Jerry, all of Macy; and one granddaughter.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, the Reverends Don Ritchey and Robert Jarboe officiating. Burial will be in Ever Rest Memorial Park Cemetery, Logansport.
