Mrs Mary Jane Wensel, longtime resident of State Center and a citizen of Marshall county for three quarters of a century, passed away at the Emma Wohlert hospital last Friday following an illness of six months duration.

Mrs Wensel was born March 4, 1862 in Winsor County, Vermont, the daughter of Marcus A and Lucia Wilkins Buck. The family moved to near Freeport, Illinois in 1865, residing there for one year. The following year they moved to Marshalltown living there for one year. Mrs Wensel has lived in Marshall county ever since that time. She was a resident of State Center for forty-seven years.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Ray, age 3 in 1893 and Harry on February 20, 1929. She is survived by two sons, Milton of Webster City and Leland of State Center; three brothers and two sisters, E W Buck of Melbourne, Ralph Buck of Glendale, California, Harry Buck of Ames, Nellie Buck of Colfax and Mrs L D Havenhill of Lawrence, Kansas; five grandchildren, Miss Gertrude Wensel of Grimes, Fay Wensel of Ottumwa, Arthur Wensel of Newton, Jane Wensel of Miracle of Los Angeles, California and Robert Wensel of Oakland, California; and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the First Presbyterian Church Sunday with Rev John F Maze officiating. Burial was in Hillside cemetery.
