Mrs Lucia Wilkins Buck had nearly reached the ninety-fourth anniversary of her birth, which occurred at Reading, Vermont November 10, 1832. On April 22, 1851 she was united in marriage to Mr Marcus A Buck and in 1864 they moved to Baileyville, Illinois where they resided on a farm, later moving to State Center and locating on a farm three miles southeast of town. This was their home for many years until they retired to live in State Center in later life. Mr Buck passed away July 4, 1896.

Nine children were born to Mr and Mrs Buck, of whom seven survive. They are C C Buck, E W Buck, Mrs Mary Wensel, R A Buck, Mrs L D Havenhill, Harry Buck and Nellie Buck. Mrs Buck is also survived by thirty grandchildren and twenty eight great grandchildren.
