L. HARRIS COUPLE, ASSUMPTION, CELEBRATES 40TH ANNIVERSARY

Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Herman Harris of Assumption are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary today. They will be guests of honor at a family party this evening, hosted by their children.

Lloyd Herman Harris and Ella Mae Simpson were married on November 10, 1935 in the Baptist Church at Ottenheim, Ky with the Rev. H. S. Measel performing the ceremony. The couple move to this area from Kentucky in 1956 and Mr. Harris was engaged in farming in this area until 1973 when he became an employee of the Assumption Co-Op Elevator.

They are the parents of 11 children as follows: Mrs. John (Eva) Martin, Mrs. Lester (Etta) Cook, and Mrs. Kyle (Sally) Pankey all of Kentucky; Johnny and Eddie of Taylorville; Kirby of Edwardsville; Mrs. Vernon (Julie) Lowis of Assumption; and Alvin, Ralph, Jimmy and Debbie all at home. They have 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
