Frances Virginia Showalter, 92, of 820 College Ave., Harrisonburg, died Sunday, July 14, 2002, at her home.

Miss Showalter was born March 7, 1910, in Rockingham County, and was a daughter of the late R. Swope and Verdie Miller Showalter.

She graduated from Mount Clinton High School and received her bachelor's degree in nutrition from Madison College. She was a dietitian at the Philadelphia Bible College and did missionary and social work at the Grace Settlement House in the Italian section of Philadelphia most of her life. She retired in 1982 and returned to Hinton.

Miss Showalter was a member of the Berea Orthodox Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by two brothers, Galen D. Showalter of Harrisonburg, and Joseph Showalter of Port Republic, Md.; a sister, Marie J. Showalter of Bridgewater; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Scott Willet will conduct a graveside service 10 a.m. Tuesday at Weavers Mennonite Cemetery near Harrisonburg.

Memorial donations may be made to the Berea Orthodox Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 598, Dayton, Va., 22821.

Arrangements are by the Kyger & Trobaugh Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. The casket will be closed.
