Mrs. Verdie Miller Showalter, 93, of Hinton died Monday morning at the Virginia Mennonite Home where she had lived for the past eight years.

She was born Aug. 19, 1878 at Bridgewater and was a daughter of the late H. G. and Julia Wright Miller.

She was a member of Dayton Church of the Brethren.

On Dec. 25, 1900 she married Reuben Swope Showalter who died May 11, 1960.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Madre Swigart of Manassas, Marie J. Showalter of Huntington, W, Va., Ruth Showalter of Hinton and Frances Showalter of Philadelphia, Pa.; two sons, Galen Showalter of Harrisonburg and Joseph Showalter of Port Republic, Md.; three sisters, Mrs. Nora Craun of Bridgewater, Mrs. Ella Flora of Indiana and Mrs. Mettle Texiere of Harrisonburg; two brothers, Rev. O. S. Miller and, W. S. Miller, both of Bridgewater; seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at Weavers Mennonite Church by the Rev. Olin B. Landes and the Rev. A. Lloyd Swartzendruber. Burial will be in Weavers Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mac Showalter, Ralph Myers, Richard R. Miller, Lowell Texiere. Herman Miller and Paul Craun.

Relatives will meet at the church 10:45 a.m. Wednesday.

The family will receive friends 7:30 - 8:30 p.m. today at the McMullen Funeral Home.
