ELDER RENNER DIES, ILL EIGHT MONTHS – Resident of New Midway and Prominent in Brethren Church. – HEAD OF ROSE JELLY CO. – Proprietor of Business, Which Did Large Mail Order Business – Survived by Wife and Ten Children –
Elder F. C. Renner, a well known resident of New Midway, died at his home Tuesday evening at 10:35 o'clock, after an illness extending over of a period of about eight months, of locomotor ataxia. For the past six weeks he had been confined to his bed. He was aged 74 years, 6 months and 1 day. Elder Renner was a native of Washington County, having been born near Smithsburg. He removed to this county in 1858.
Elder Renner was prominent in the Church of the Brethren and took an active interest in its behalf. Several times he has represented Maryland in the church conventions held and was present at the gatherings held in Muncie, Ind., California and Illinois. He was also proprietor of the Rose Jelly Company, of new Midway, manufacturer of Rose Jelly and soap, and the firm does a large mail order business. Elder Renner until his illness was an enthusiastic motorist and was an advocate of good roads.
Surviving Elder Renner are his wife, who was, before marriage, Miss Amanda Harshman, of Middletown Valley, and ten children, as follows: David Renner of Rocky Ridge; Mrs. Anna Mary Beall, of Yellow Springs; Mrs. Lottie Bohn, of near New Midway; Mrs. Grace Bohn, Mrs. Emma McLain, Calvin Renner, Samuel Renner and Jesse Renner, of New Midway; Mrs. Ida Kolb, of Ladiesburg, and Newton Daniel Renner, of Washington, D.C.
One sister and one brother also survive: Mrs. Laura Biggs, of Sleepy Creek Va., and M. O. Renner, of New Midway.
The funeral will be held on Friday, meeting at the house at 10 o'clock; services at Rocky Ridge Church, conducted by Elder T. S. Fike, of Ladiesburg. Burial in the cemetery adjoining the church.
