John Creed Caviness
John Creed Caviness, aged 91, died at the Baptist Hospital in Little Rock Saturday, January 14. "Uncle John" was a former resident of Danville, having been born and reared at Gravelly. At one time he was a farmer and cattle buyer in Yell County. He served as Arkansas State Ranger, Yell County Deputy Sheriff and Danville City Marshall and a Methodist.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Blanche Montgomery Caviness of Pine Bluff; four daughters, Mrs. Douglas White of Silver City, NM; Mrs. Robert Compton of Russellville, Mrs. Charles Nixon of Gary, Ind. and Mrs. Blakely Gallagher of Pine Bluff; thirteen grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.
