News came to Dardanelle yesterday of the death of James M. Caviness, a prominent, prosperous and valuable citizen of Gravelly, which sad event occurred Tuesday afternoon, at his home, after a brief illness. The burial and funeral obsequies were performed yesterday afternoon.
Mr. Caviness had probably been born and raised at Gravelly, where he had led an honorable and up-right life, and raised a family of splendid children, several of whom survive him. He was a man of affairs, enterprising and progressive, and was justly popular in his community.
On Wednesday of last week Jim Willson, of this place, was at his home and found him lying on a cot, complaining of having had a light chill. However, it developed into an attack of fever, from which he never recovered. The P-D joins with the many friends of the family in expressing its profound sympathy and condolence in this sad affliction.
