Mulberry Gap Baptist Church Association
Brother John Lawson was born 9 September, 1883. He deceased this life on 9 January, 1940 at 8:00 A.M. He professed faith in Christ at Cobb's Chapel in the year, 1905, and joined the church at Cobb's Chapel. He later moved his membership to Grassy Springs and lived a good member until his death. He was married to Cora Harris in the year 1902; to this union was born 10 children: 7 boys and 3 girls of which 3 children preceded him to glory. He said this was his time to go. He said he was talking to God every day and was ready to meet his reward. John was a hard-working man, a good father, a good Christian, a brother. We, as church and community will miss him as well as his family. He leaves wife, 7 children, 2 sisters, and 1 brother, and a host of friends and relatives to weep over our loss, but our loss, thank God, is Brother John's gain. So rest till we all meet again.
