Leona J. Nolan
Meriden -- Leona J. Nolan, 84, of 565 N. Colony Street, wife of the late James F. Nolan, died Wednesday at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center, West Campus.
Born in New Haven, August 22, 1908, a daughter of the late Leo McDermott and Margaret O'Brien McDermott, she had resided in Miami, Florida, until moving to Meriden 39 years ago, She was educated in the Meriden Schools, and had been employed by Travelers Insurance Co., until her retirement 10 years ago. She was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church.
She is survived by two sons, James M. Noland and Thomas W. Nolan, both of Meriden., three sisters, Mrs. George "Geraldine" Clark of Rocky Hill, Miss Madeline McDermott of Meriden, Mrs. Stuart "Lucille" Burghoff of Meriden, a brother Thomas R. McDermott of Meriden and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Fogg of Meriden and a brother Norman McDermott of Meriden.
The funeral will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. from the John J. Ferry and Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m.. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, contributions may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, Conn. 06492.
