Thomas R. McDermott
MERIDEN -- Thomas R. McDermott, 94, husband of Magdalene (Keller) McDermott, died Sunday morning, June 10, 2001.
Born in New Haven on July 29, 1906, the son of the late Leo and Margaret O'Brien McDermott, he had resided in Meriden for most of his life. Mr. McDermott was employed as an electrician with International Silver Co. for over 30 years, retiring several years ago. He served in the U.S. Navy and the National Guard, and was a parishioner of St. Mary Church.
Besides his wife, Magdalene of 69 years, he is survived by two sons, Thomas Robert McDermott of Leesburg, Fla.; Joseph Leo McDermott of Salina, Pa.; six grandchildren and their spouses, Cynthia Smock, Kevin and Louise McDermott, Wendy and Leighton Gibbs, Brian and Patti McDermott, Joseph and Diane McDermott, and Jill Matschener; one sister, Madeline McDermott of Meriden; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Norman John McDermott; three sisters, Geraldine Clark, Margaret Fogg and Leona Nolan; and one brother, Norman McDermott.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial to be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Church. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Mary Church, 5 Sherman Place, Meriden, CT 06451. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden.

Robert Roy celebrated a Mass of Christian burial and officiated at the burial in St. Boniface Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons, Kevin McDermott, Bud Gibbs, Brian McDermott and Joseph McDermott and godsons, Fred Steinbeck and Al Olschefski.
