Calvin Tharp was the husband of Telitha Wood.∼Calvin was the last of sixteen children born to David & Eleanor 'Ellen' Tracy Tharp. The 1850 census has Calvin living with his parents in Newton, Licking County, Ohio. While he was still very young, his father, David and Uncle Reuben moved their families to Illinois around what is now Bellair.

David was not content with the area and moved his family on to Fulton County Illinois, about 1858. The 1860 census has Calvin living in Harris Township, Fulton County, Illinois.

In 1870 Calvin was farming in Harris Township with a wife and young daughter.

Before March of 1873 Calvin moved his young family back to Cumberland County, Illinois.

Calvin & Charlotte had one daughter & four sons: Cora Ellen b. 20 Mar 1869; Franklin Lee b. ca Jan 1872; Jesse Frederick b. 09 Mar 1873; Charles Lossen b. 03 Jan. 1876 & Beverly b. 22 May 1878 before Charlotte died in 1880.

Calvin moved his motherless family to Jasper County, Missouri before June 1885 where he married Telitha S. (Wood) McAllister on 24 Dec 1885.

In the 1900 Federal Census Calvin is listed as the owner-operator of a Chili House. According to Calvin's death certificate he died as a result of chronic nephritis and suffered from Bright's Disease.
