JOSEPH TOBIN DIES; PRINTER MANY YEARS

JOSEPH G. TOBIN, a printer and resident of Grand Rapids most of his life, died Wednesday at St. Margaret's Hospital in Hammond, Ind. He was 72.

Mr. Tobin had been in ill health since his retirement in 1947. He had been an employe of the Grand Rapids Press for 36 years.

His home here was at 13 National NW, but he and Mrs. Tobin had been living at St. Anne's Home in Hammond for the last five months.

Mr. Tobin was a member of St. James' Church, the Holy Name Society, the Third Order of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and the Grand Rapids Typographical union. He was a native of North Dakota.

Besides his wife, ROSE, Mr. Tobin is survived by five sons, JOSEPH A. of Sarasota, Fla., REV. FRANCIS J. TOBIN of Chicago; REV. BERNARD J. TOBIN of San Leandro, Calif.; REV. GERALD J. TOBIN, in Brazil, and EDWARD J. of Grand Rapids; four daughters, SR. MARY EILEEN in St. Ignatius' Convent, Rogers City; SR. MARY LORRAINE in St. Anne's Home in Hammond; SR. ROSE ANNE in Nicaragua and MRS. EUGENE SKAZINSKI of Grand Rapids; a sister, MRS. OTTO SWITZER of Grand Rapids; 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be in St. James Church at 11 a.m. Saturday. The body is in the Alt Funeral Home.

TOBIN OUT FOR ALDERMAN.

JOSEPH TOBIN entered the aldermanic race in the Seventh ward Tuesday with petitions for nomination. The only other new candidate of the day was S. De Young, who wants to be constable in the Twelfth ward.
