TOBIN – EDWARD JOSEPH TOBIN, age 88, of Grand Rapids passed away peacefully, Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at the home of his daughter. He was preceded in death by his wife, HELEN LORRAINE. He is survived by his children, KATHLEEN (TOM) NYSTROM, MARY ANNE (JEFF PRICE) TOBIN, EDWARD (CAROLYN) TOBIN, DANIEL (TERRY) TOBIN, DAVID (MARY) TOBIN, SUSAN (DAVID) CLEMENTS, NANCY (MATTHEW ROTHENBERG) TOBIN; 26 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sisters, BETTY (EUGENE) SKAZINSKI and SR. ROSEANNA TOBIN; sisters-in-law, MARY ROSS, LOIS RANDALL.

Ed served his country during WWII in the South Pacific with the U.S. Army. He then had a long career as a printer and worked for the Grand Rapids Herald and later the Grand Rapids Press. He was a very active member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, serving as a lector, an usher and was active in the Catherine's Care Center. He also served on the board of directors of the Comstock Park Senior Citizens.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday 10:30 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 224 Carrier N.E. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Reyers North Valley Chapel, 2815 Fuller N.E. at Three Mile Rd. where the Rosary will be prayed Friday 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Catherine Care Center. Our family would like to thank the caregivers at RAI Dialysis Center and the Spectrum Health-Blodgett Congestive Heart Failure Clinic for their special care and kindness.
