Alonzo Terry was the son of John Thomas Terry and Julia Brooks. He was born 16 October 1834 in Chambers County , Alabama. Alonzo Terry married Louisa F. Cox in Chambers County , Alabama on 7 June 1859. He enlisted in the Confederate Cavalry in Chambers County, Alabama on 10 March 1862, and he was assigned to Company A, 5th. Battalion Alabama Cavalry. This unit was also known as Hillard's Legion. He later served in Company A, 10th. Confederate Cavalry. Alonzo attained the rank of Sergeant. Alonzo appears on the 1860 Census of Troup County, Georgia. By 1870 he had moved to Fannin County, Texas. Known children of Alonzo Terry and Louisa F. Cox were: William John, Georgia, Sarah, Elizabeth, Edward, Alice, Leila May and James Mark. Alonzo died 23 Feb 1897 in Fannin County , Texas .
