George W. Terry was born 13 November 1839 in Chambers County, AL. He was the son of John Thomas Terry and his wife, Julia Brooks. George enlisted in the Confederate Army in Antioch, Troup County, Georgia on 9 July 1861. He was assigned to Company F. 21st. Regiment Georgia Infantry. George attained the rant of 1st. Corporal. While in service he became ill with Typhoid Fever and died on 18 December 1861 in Centerville, Virginia. George W. Terry's body was brought back to Georgia by his brother, Thomas and buried in Freeman Cemetery (also known as Terry Cemetery) in Troup County.
