Charles J. Alto
Trenary--Charles J. Alto, 84, of Trenary, died early Thursday morning in Marquette General Hospital, where he has been in ill health several years.
He was born February 12, 1912 to Hjalmer & Amalia Alto, in Chatham, and had lived in this are most of his life. He was employed as a meat cutter from 1932-1956 at the Eben Co-op, and was the owner of the Lakeside Inn from 1960 until his retirement in 1972. He was a veteran of the Army in WWII.
He is survived by his wife Eva Waananen, they were married 57 years ago; 2 sisters, Lempi Hillberg of Marquette, Mrs. Kay (Edward) Salmela of Marquette; two brothers, Victor (Beatrice) Aalto of Marquette, Alex (Bertha) Alto of Eben; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, Hilja, Mayme, and Ethel; and a brother Toivo in WWII.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Swanson-Lundquist Funeral Home, Inc., with Rev. Ardy Johnson officiating. Burial will be made in the Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Swanson-Lundquist Funeral Home from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Pallbearer's will be Victor Aalto, Alex Alto, Frank Ritola, Kim Salmela, David Akkala, and Keith Alto.
