MARQUETTE -- Lempi W. Hillberg, 93, formerly of 222 S. Fifth St., died Monday, February 3, 2003 at the Norlite Nursing Center where she had resided since October of 2001.
She was born February 20, 1909 in Slapneck, MI to Hjalmer and Amalia (Salmi) Alto and moved to Marquette in 1925. Lempi was a homemaker and also worked at Getz's Department Store.
Lempi is survived by two daughters; Dorothy E. Magill of Marquette and Barbara (John) M. Post of Indianapolis, IN; a sister Katherine Salmela of Marquette; two brothers, Victor Aalto of Marquette and Alex (Bertha) Alto of Eben Junction; four grandchildren, five great great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Alex in 1964.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, February 8, 2003 in the Swanson-Lundquist Funeral Home with Rev. James Fogle officiating. Burial will take place in Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at the funeral home at 11:00 am Saturday.
