Mr. Ratliff, former sheriff of Lamar County and uncle of Mrs. Claud Councill, died Monday at 8:22 a.m. at his home in Paris, following several years illness.

Mr. Ratliff, native of Lamar County was one of 11 children, five of whom are still living.

Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Elizabeth Kirkpatrick; a son, James T. Ratliff, Paris; 3 brothers: Michael C. Ratliff, Colorado City; John L. Ratliff, Spartanburg, S. C. and George C. Ratliff, Abilene; 2 sisters: Mrs. J. W. Deweese, Paris and Miss Ula Ratliff, teacher in the schools at Alice; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
