Granddaughter of John Gaines Biard, one of the founders of the settlement of Biardstown in Lamar County.

OBITUARY

Mrs. J. H. Ratliff, 92, widow of a former Lamar County sheriff, died Monday at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph's Hospital.

She had been living at Paris Manor nursing home but formerly made her home with her daughter-in-law, Mrs. J. T. Ratliff, 1735 Cleveland Street.

Services Wednesday at 2 p.m., will be conducted at Leverett and Steele chapel by Dr. James Semple of First Baptist Church, where Mrs. Ratliff was a member. Interment is arranged in Evergreen Cemetery.

The former Elizabeth Kirkpatrick, born in Glory community, Nov 22, 1875, Mrs. Ratliff was married Nov 22, 1899, her husband's death occurring in February, 1951.

She leaves four grandchildren: Mrs. John Ford, Arlington; Mrs. William Flippen and Bobby Lee Ratliff, Dallas; and Jim Bill Ratliff, Paris, and 13 other descendants. She was a sister-in-law of Mrs. J.W. DeWeese here [the former Mattye Ratliff].
