Funeral services for James Thomas (Red) Ratliff, 64, who had been in the trucking and water service business here, are arranged for Tuesday afternoon. The Rev. A.D. Merchant of Denison and the Rev. L.E. Dicken, pastor of North Paris Baptist Church, will officiate during the services at 2 p.m. in Fry and Gibbs chapel. Burial will be made in Meadowbrook Cemetery. Ratliff died Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Hospital, where he was taken after he became suddenly ill at his home, 1735 Cleveland. Born Aug 26, 1900 in Glory community, he was the son of the late J.H. Ratliff and Elizabeth Kirkpatrick Ratliff, who survives. He attended public schools at Glory and Minter. He was married Sep 27, 1925 at Minter to the former Miss Nora Ann Lawrence. The family lived at Minter until 1936 when they moved to Paris. Ratliff was interested in singing and had attended many of the singing conventions in this area. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include his mother, his wife, who resides at 1735 Cleveland; two daughters, Mrs. John H. Ford of Arlington and Mrs. William E. Flippen of Paris; two sons, Jim Bill Ratliff of Mount Pleasant and Bob Lee Ratliff of Dallas, and 10 grandchildren.
