Arthur was born in a log house built in 1814 by his mother's maternal uncles. He was the youngest child of Geo. Wm. Boyd and Eliza Vail Markee. Arthur married December 25, 1899 to Miss Adda Mary Melton; June 24, 1916 to Miss Mary "Mayne" Monahan (at Sacred Heart RC Church in Columbus, Ohio); August 4, 1919 to Mrs. Gertrude Heckler Crooks in Cleveland; and September 1, 1923 to Miss Lynda L. Lather, in Detroit. Art was a transit police officer in Columbus, a furniture salesman and a dealer in cemetary monuments in Cambridge, Ohio, although he lived in Cleveland, Columbus, St. Louis, and Detroit, MI. at different times in his life. He was the father of Mary Bernice Boyd (Bohnet) and Arthur Melton Boyd. He died rather suddenly at the Swan Hospital in Cambridge from an embolism that traveled from the phlebitis in his right thigh. He is buried on the Boyd family plot at Greenmont Cemetery, Freeport, Harrison County, Ohio.
