Always known as "Belinda" and named for her paternal aunts and maternal grandmother, she was the eldest child of Geo. Wm. Boyd and Eliza Vail Markee, born in a log house in Tippecanoe that her grandmother's brothers built in 1814. Belinda graduated from Scio College and taught school at Gilmore, Ohio before her marriage in 1881 to Joseph Kurtz Conwell. She was raised at Tippecanoe, lived on a rented farm at Newport, Tuscarawas Co, Ohio, then purchased, with her husband, their farm at Stillwater, Ohio, and retired to Uhrichsville, Ohio, where she died after an illness of only one day. She was an incredible woman and beloved by her family and friends.
