Joseph, 83, of Route 1, Maria Stein, passed away at his home following an extended illness. Death was due to complications and old age.
On May 4, 1919, he married Catherine Schmitt, who survived him.
Also surviving were two sons: Wilfred, Maria Stein, and Linus, Minster; three daughters: Ann Rita (Joseph) Saunders, Ft. Loramie, Merelda (Herman) Hoying, St. Henry, and Salome (Arthur) Pleiman, Coldwater; three brothers: George and Lawrence, Maria Stein, and August, Osgood; a sister, Rose Meiring, St. Marys; and thirty-five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three grandchildren; three brothers; and a sister.
A retired farmer, he was a member of the Holy Name Society.
Funeral Mass was at St. John Catholic Church, Maria Stein, with Rev. Vincent Parr officiating.
