Railroad Crossing Crash Friday, November 10, 1967, Friday, Fatal to Former Countians.

A truck/train crash at the Good Fatith crossing on the Cotton Belt Railroad , about 2 miles south of Pine Bluff early Friday morning claimed the lives of two former Cleveland county residents and the two children of one of the men.

Fatally injured when the train struck a pickup truck were Jack Rushing age 40, his nephew, James Edward Rushing, age 32 and his two children, Jeanece, age 10, and Carl Lyn age, 8, James Rushing was carrying his children to school and he and his uncle were traveling to their work. They were employed at Smart Chevrolet Co. in Pine Bluff.

Jack Rushing, a native of Grant County, attended Rison schools. He was the son of Mrs. Emma Rhodes Rushing of Woodlawn community and the Late William Andrew Rushing.

He was employed in finance department of Smart Chevrolet in Pine Bluff, and had previously been employed by Southwestern Transportation Co.

He was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church in Pine Bluff and was a Deacon in the Church.

He was a Veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his father William Andrew Rushing and a sister Ollie G Rushing Price.

Survivors include his widow, whom he married on June 29, 1946, in Pine Bluff, AR., Mrs. Franes Shelby Rushing of Watson Chapel, a Daughter Mrs. Joyce Rushing Goff of West Memphis, his mother, Emma Rhodes Rushing, of Woodlawn, six brothers, A. B. Rushing, Tellis Rushing and A. J. Rushing all of Pine Bluff, Neely Rushing of Kingsland, William Thomas (Tom) Rushing of Calmer, Henry D Rushing of Oregon, a sister; Mrs. J. E. (Rachel) Shelby of Monore, La. and one Grandchild, LeAnn Goff, West Memphis.

Funeral Services were held Sunday afternoon, November 12, 1967, at Bethel # 2 Baptist Church at Herbine, conducted by Eld Gene Mitchel of Pine Bluff, and Eld. C. L. Foster of Rison,

Burial was in Prosperity cemetery at Herbine.

Buie Funeral Home of Rison was in charge of arrangment.

Pallbearers: Roy Burrough, Russell Puckett, Delbert Crane, J. E. Via, Gene Herring, and Ed Williams.
