Mrs. Emma T. (Granny) Rhodes Rushing, 92 of Kingsland, a homemaker, died Monday March 11, 1985 at the Star City Nursing Center.

A native of Ivy (Dallas County), Emma was the daughter of Hedley Percy "Henry" Rhodes and Ollie Johnson Rhodes.

The story she told to her grandchildren that they cross the Mississppi River when she was about 5 years old, that they used Oxen, that wore rubber shoes on their feet, due to the river had frozen over, around the year of 1905. She told the story that She was raised by her grandparents, Samuel Johnson

Mrs. Rushing was the widow of William Andrew Rushing.

She was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Calmer community on Highway 15 (which is now US Hwy 63).

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Jack Rushing, a daughter, Ollie Rushing Price, sister Nettie Rhodes Rushing.

Survivors include six sons, Neely (Alec) Rushing, Henry D. Rushing, both of Kingsland, William Thomas (Tom) Rushing, of Calmer, A. B. Rushing, A. J. Rushing of Pine Bluff, Tellas Dick Rushing of Sheridan a daughter Rachel Rushing Shebly of Monroe, Louisiana, 30 grandchildren, 111 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service were held at 10 A. M. Wednesday, March 13, 1985 at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Calmer with Brother Randy Cloud and Brother Harold Epperson officiating.

Burial was in Friendship Cemetery at Woodlawn.

Arrangement was by Buie's Funeral Home of Rison.

Her grandson will serve as pallbearers.
