William Andrew Rushing, 63, of the Woodlawn Community, died at his home about 6 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 1951, after a heart attack
Born in South Caroline on March 7, 1887.
Mr. Rushing was the son of the late Thomas Rushing and Emma Coleman Rushing Simons.
Mr. Rushing was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church at Carthage, Dallas County, Arkansas, for more than 30 years.
Mr. Rushing married Emma T. "Ressie" Rhodes on December 24, 1907 at Ivy, Dallas County, Arkansas.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Emma "Ressie " Rhodes, Rushing of Woodlawn, community, Cleveland county, Seven sons; Jack Rushing, A. B. Rushing, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, William T. " Tom" Rushing, Tellis "Dick" Rushing, Henry D. Rushing and A. J. Rushing, all of Rison, Cleveland County, Two daughters, Mrs. Ollie Rushing Price of Cornerstone, and Mrs. Rachel Shelby of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and a Brother; John Washington Rushing of Sherrill, Jefferson County, Arkansas.
Funeral Services for William Andrew Rushing were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 20, 1951 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in the Woodlawn Community, Cleveland County, Arkansas with the Rev. Cullen Johnson of Fordyce, Arkansas and Rev. Harvey Payne of Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery, Woodlawn Community, and Cleveland County, Arkansas.
Active pallbearers were Voy Cash, Glenn Norton, Rex Morrison, Jesse Owen, Malcolm Allred and J. W. Jaggers.
Honorary pallbearers were Homer Reed, Marcus Hankins, Bartey Phelps, Andy Willis, Early Favers, Lonnie Harris, John Rauls, W. L. Barnett, Vic Owen, Thad Jacks and Dr. A. B. Robertson.
It is believed according to a family member that his father(Thomas Rushing)is buried all beside his wife Emma A. Coleman Rushing Simon in the Oakland Cemetery, Dallas County, Fordyce, Arkansas in an unmarked grave.
