RUSSELL S. HANSEN
Roy - Russell S. Hansen, age 80, passed away Friday, April 5, 2002 at Rocky Moutain Care Center, Clearfield (Utah).
He was born June 16, 1921 in Garden City, the son of Charles A. and Vilate Hansen Hansen.
Russell married Lila Janet Sharp on July 26, 1945 in Evanston, Wyoming. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple on May 7, 1997.
Russell served in the Army during World War II as a tank commander in the 744th Tank Battalion Company "C" landing in Normandy on D-Day. He received the Purple Heart.
He was a lifelong resident of Garden City, Utah.
He loved to do gardening, hunt, fish, and be in the mountains.
Surviving are his wife, Lila, Roy; three sons, Wendell (Linda), Layton; Thaine (Chelane), Roy; Earl (Dianna), Plain City; one daughter, Donna (Don) Pugmire, Clearfield; 13 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, LaVar (LaVaun) Hansen; and LeRoy Hansen, North Ogden.
Preceded in death by two daughters, Earlene and Mary Kay, six brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2002 at 2 p.m. at the Bear Lake Ward, Garden City, Utah.
Friends and family may call Tuesday from 12 to 1:45 p.m. at the church.
Interment, Garden City Cemetery.
Military honors will be accorded at the graveside.
