Services Held in Garden City Chapel

Emma Vilate Hansen, 72, died January 19 at her home in Garden City. She was born December 6, 1888 in Garden City to Hans C. and Emma Saxton Hansen, and resided there all of her life. She attended elementary school in Garden City. She was married to Charles A. Hansen on June 12, 1907, in Paris.

She was an active member of the L.D.S. Church, the Relief Society, and other auxiliary organizations, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are her husband and 12 children: C. Delbert Hansen, Thomas A. Hansen, Russell S. Hansen, Mrs. Clyde (Ilene) Kennedy, and Mrs. Ross (Mildred) Smith, all of Garden City; Hans G. Hansen and Mrs. Harold (Ruth) Lane, both of Montpelier; Willard Hansen of Paris, Mrs. Weston (Leah) Barker of Evanston; LaVarr M. Hansen, LeRoy B. Hansen and Jack I. Hansen, all of Ogden. 44 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; two brothers and one sister, Brigham S. Hansen of Pocatello, T. Wilford Hansen of Garden City, and Mrs. Lewis (Pearl) Smith of Montpelier. She was preceded in death by two children, Carl Floyd Hansen on October 19, 1933 and Mrs. Emma Windley on June 13, 1960.

Services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, in the Garden City ward chapel with Counselor Ross Hodges conducting. The opening song, "Sister Thou Was't Mild and Lovely," was sung by the Garden City Singing Mothers, conducted by Dorothea Wicker and accompanied by Beatrice Cook, invocation, Bishop Paul A. Spence; vocal solo, "Beyond the Sunset," Merinda Gibbons, accompanied by Mattie Price; speaker, Bishop Mitchell Sims; violin solo, Nora B. Stephens, accompanied by Leonora Stucki; speaker, President L. Burdette Pugmire; song, "Bring Heavy Heart Your Greif Unto Me, " Singing Mothers; benediction, Bishop Bryan Booth, Parley Kunz offered the prayer at the mortuary.

Internment was in the Garden City Cemetary and the grave was dedicated by Harold Lane. Pallbearers were Rayo Barker, Rodney Hansen, Howard Hansen, Richard Hansen Floyd Kennedy and Gene Windley. Matthews Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
