Mary Emma Sharp Funeral Monday North Vernon Funeral for Mary Emma Sharp, 65, of Rogers Lane will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev Dan Barringer officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Dove and Sharp Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. An Eastern Star memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Jennings County Hospice or the American Cancer Society. Mrs Sharp died at 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, 1994, at Indiana University Medical Center at Indianapolis. She retired in 1975 from Jennings County Welfare Department, where she was a social worker. She also formerly taught at Scipio Elementary School and was a former partner in Dove and Sharp Funeral Home. A 1951 graduate of Bethel College at Mishawaka,she was a member of First Baptist Church and the church's adult choir. She was a member, current secretary and former matron of North Vernon Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of Past Matrons and Past Patrons Club and was a former Eastern Star Grand Representative and a current member of the Rainbow advisory board. She also was a member of Jennings County Hospital Ladies Guild and Republican Womens Club and was a volunteer for the Literacy Council and Jennings County Hospice. Born July 8, 1928, in New Carlisle, Ohio, She was the daughter of Alpheus A. and Anna Mary Hoke Cox. She is survived by daughters, Cheryl Kay Hannum of New Castle and Judith Ann Jordan of North Vernon; a brother, Earl Cox of Greensburg, Pa.; a sister, Dorothy Young of New Carlisle; and grandchildren, Leah, Philip and Paul Hannun all of New Castle
