Scott W. Overfield, 86, 108 Olive, died Saturday at Cushing Memorial Hospital. He had been in failing health the past month.
Born September 28, 1885 in Brown County Kansas, he was a son of James and Frances Overfield. He lived in Leavenworth for 47 years, and for many years operated a popcorn and candy concession at 4th and Delaware. On March 24, 1909 at Hiawatha he was married to Miss Florence Hill.
Mr. Overfield is survived by his widow of the home; seven daughters, Mrs. Hilma Kagan, 107 Olive, Mrs. Edith Schmitz, 315 Grand, Mrs. Helen Burke, 4416 Shrine Park Road, Mrs. Laura Magnussen, 925 Cherokee, Mrs. Ann Canady, Atlanta, Georgia, Mrs. Maxine Martin, 518 Michigan, and Mrs. Rose Stewart, 1001 Cherokee; six sons, Loyd J. Overfield, 1722 Seneca, Warren S. Overfield, 420 Shoemaker, Max I. Overfield, Dallas, Texas, Charles Eugene Overfield, 900 Cherokee, Albert Nelson Overfield, 700 Chestnut, and Theodore J. Overfield, San Diego, California; three brothers, James Overfield, Highland, Kansas, Don Overfield and Verner Overfield, both of Hiawatha, one sister, Mrs. Cordia Johns, Hiawatha, 45 grandchildren,and 39 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m.Tuesday at the Larkin Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mount Muncie Cemetery. The body will be at the funeral home after 3 p.m. today.
