Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Barnett-Larkin-Brown Funeral home with the Rev. Howard Jones, pastor of the Church of the Open Door, officiating. Burial will be at Mount Muncie Cemetery.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. today at the funeral home where the family will receive friends and relatives from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Mr. Overfield was born August 1, 1926 at Leavenworth, before moving to Plano several years ago.
Max was an insurance claims supervisor for 20 years for the Foremost Insurance Company. He formerly owned and operated a body shop in Leavenworth before moving to Texas.
He was a member of the Sons of the Revolution and a United States Army veteran of World War II having served in the 24th Infantry for two years. He was a Protestant.
He married Nora C. Emler on October 14, 1949, in Leavenworth. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include four sons: Max I. Overfield Jr. of Bonner Springs, Dr. A. Scott Overfield of Kansas City, Kansas, Jeffrey Overfield of Olathe and Michael Overfield of Overland Park; two daughters Terry Lea Rockhill of Harlington, Texas, Toni Jo Braun of Garland, Texas; four brothers, Nelson Overfield of Salido, Colorado, Ted Overfield of San Diego, California, Loyd Overfield and Charles "Gene" Overfield of Leavenworth; five sisters, Hilma Kagan, Edith Schmitz, Laura Magnussan, Maxine Dunbar and Rose Stewart all of Leavenworth; and ten grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Scott W. Overfield and Florence Hill Overfield, and one brother Warren Overfield and three sisters Lucille Overfield, Helen Burke and Ann Canaday.
