Hilma B.Kagan, 79, Leavenworth, died Saturday, July 7, 1990, in Cushing Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Mausoleum Chapel at Mount Muncie Cemetery. The Rev. William H. Haeglin, pastor of Sacred Heart Church, will officiate. Burial will be at Mount Muncie Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call from 8 to 10p.m. Tuesday at the Barnett-Larkin-Brown-Funeral Home. No visitation is planned for tonight.
Mrs. Kagan was born January 4, 1911, in Hiawatha, the daughter of Scott W. and Florence Hill Overfield.
She had lived in Leavenworth since the early 1960s, following her move from Houston, Texas. She was a former legal secretary in Houston and after moving to Leavenworth, was the office secretary for the Leavenworth Council on Aging for several years. She retired in 1986.
Mrs. Kagan was Catholic. She attended schools in Hiawatha and Leavenworth.
She was member of the Byron H Mehl Unit 23 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary; Ladies Auxiliary No.55 F.O.E.; and the Ladies Auxiliary No.56 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She married Irving Kagan in 1939 in Houston, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1965.
Survivors include four brothers. Ted Overfield, Phoenix, AZ, Nelson Overfield, Salida, CO, Loyd Overfield and Charles "Gene" Overfield, both of Leavenworth; and four sisters, Edith Schmitz, Laura Magnussen, Maxine Dunbar, and Rose M. Stewart, all of Leavenworth.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Warren Overfield and Max Overfield; and three sisters, Lucille Overfield, Helen Burke and Ann Canady.
