Margaret grew up in Fairmont, attended Fairmont High School, graduating in 1942. She worked at McClellen's Drug Store, owned by her sister, Gertrude and brother-in-law, Hubert during her last three years of high school. Margaret loved to draw, and was able to sell some of her biology plate drawings to superintendent Dodd. During her senior year, she enjoyed being selected as one of the high school cheerleaders.
Margaret was married to John C. Gibson of Cherokee, Okla., in 1942, and from this union three children were born, Roger D., James H. and Ida G.
During the years that Margaret was raising her children, she worked outside the home at many jobs--cooking for ranches in western Nebraska, factory job, caregiver at Mother Jewel's Home, clerking at J.C. Penney's and Beavers Store, secretary at Fairmont NKC Grain Company for 14 years, secretary and treasurer at Fairmont Community Church and worked at the Fillmore County Road Department.
Margaret taught herself to knit, crochet, sew and cook. Using these many talents, she made afgans, quilts, slippers, bunnies, dolls, pot holders and dish clothes and sewed clothes for her children and grandchildren. She shared her talent and gifts with everyone.
Over the years, Margaret enjoyed traveling to the ease and west coasts and Canada, visiting family and friends.
Margaret will always be remembered for her wonderful stories she told to her children and grandchildren about "the little green man that she carried in her pocket," her love for her family and friends and the wonderful smells coming from her kitchen.
Left to cherish Margaret's memory are her children, Roger D. Gibson and wife Juniel; James H. Gibson and Ida Gwen Ihde; grandchildren, Robyn (Mony) Alkhoury, JOdie Gibson, Ryan Gibson, Justin Gibson, Dustin (Nikki) Gibson, Nikki (Scott) Kugler and Toni Ihde; great-grandchildren, John, Danielle, Daniel and Seth; Jacob and Jamil; Christopher and Zachery; one brother-in-law; three sisters-in-law; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; John C. Gibson; brothers, Gib, Leonard, Louis, Walter, Francis, Robert, Hubert and Dennis; sisters, Merle, Gertrude, Geniza, Charlotte and Dorthy.
Private burial will be held at the Fairmont Cemetery for the immediate family.
