Bob attended Fairmont Public Schools. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He worked as bookkeeper at the Fairmont Elevators before moving to Bremerton, Wash., where he lived and worked most of his working career. He retired from the Bremerton Naval Shipyards on January 31, 1987.
Bob was a gentle, kind soul with a talent for art and love for animals. He also took a genuine interest in all of his family and was one of the family historians.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Merle Mitchell, Gertrude McClellan, Geniza Ackerman and Charlotte Bridgman; brothers, Gilbert, Lewis, Hubert, Frances, Dennis, Walter, and Leonard Albro.
He is survived by sisters, Margaret Gibson and Dorothy Albro; sisters-in-law, Shirley Albro, Doris Albro, Mary and Evelyn Luethke; brothers-in-law, Federal Bridgman and Harley Mitchell; 28 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva at 2 p.m. on May 10, with Pastor Chris Lake officiating the service.
Susan Kleinschmidt accompanied the congregation who sang, "The Hymn of Promise" and "Precious Lord, Take My Hand."
Pallbearers were Gilbert Albro, Roger Gibson, Dick Sieber, Bob Bartu, Richard Ellison and Todd Wythers.
Interment was in the Fairmont Public Cemetery.
