Gertrude attended two different country schools before moving into Fairmont with her family. She graduated from the Fairmont High School in 1928. She worked for the Lincoln Telephone Company as a telephone operator.
Gertrude was married to Hubert E. McClellan of Fairmont on Oct 3, 1929, and to them a son, Kenneth Edwin was born.
Gertrude worked in the Drug store that she and her husband owned for 47 years. She was a member of the Fairmont Community Church; a 50 year member of Chapter A.M. P.E.O. and a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 180, in Geneva.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert; her parents; seven brothers, Gilbert, Lewis, Hubert, Francis, Dennis, Walter and Leonard; three sisters, Merle Mitchell, Geniza Ackerman and Charlotte Bridgman.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Edwin, and his wife, Norma of Cordova; three grandchildren, David and wife, Alison of Gering, Lori and husband, Dwayne Nolte of Bridgeport, and Amy and husband, Wesley Kellogg of Kearney; five great-grandchildren, Jason and Trista McClellan, Austin Kellogg, and Lance and Brandy Nolte; sisters, Margaret Gibson of Palmyra, Mo., and Dorothy Albro of Bremerton, Wash.; brother, Robert Albro of Port Orchard, Wash.; also by brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Funeral services were conducted from the Fairmont Community Church in Fairmont on Wednesday, Dec. 10, with Rev. Laura Bartels officiating. Nancy Jo Galusha accompanied Marvin and Delores Swartz who sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Just a Closer Walk with Thee."
Casket bearers were Larry Mitchell, Dan Cuda, LeAllen Domeier, Gary Unrein, Roger Gibson and Dick Sieber.
Interment was in the Fairmont cemetery.
