Delilia May Reeder, daughter of Jacob Reeder and Sarah Elizabeth Snapp was born in St. Paris, Champaign Co., Ohio 17 June 1869. Her father was born in Germany and fought in the Civil War in the Ohio 113 Regiment. The family moved with her mothers two brothers, Balium and Peter, and her sister Delilia (Wolgamuth) Snapp, along with their children to Lyon Co., Kansas in the same year as her birth. Her mother died withing two years and a short time later, Jacob left his four living children with their older half siblings by their mother, and went to Missouri where he died in Bates Co., Missouri. She was raised by her sister Melinda Noe Campbell. Jacob Reeder was a hard man with really no ties to his family. Delilah was the youngest with Sherman, her brother, had no formal education. I think the other children faired a bit better but not much. There were 5 children by Jacob and 4 half siblings that were older. God says, "Vengence is mine"...but for Jacob it was a bit earlier than death. His second wife murdered him 30 days after their marriage.
