Printice Irving Doile. Born while his father was at Fort Westport, Kansas. (Westport Crossing part of Kansas City, KS) before the Civil War. He worked off and on for extra money with the Santa Fe Railroad but main income was from a vegetable truck farm and a horseradish canning plant in Emporia, Kansas. He even was a gardner for the City of Emporia. He and his wife, Delilah Reeder Doile were small people and worked very very hard to raise their 10 children. Invented paper covers for vegetable's to get their start under and had a patent on them. There children were Harry Irving, Chester Arthur, Laura May, Ray Allison ,Warren Edward, Elva Rose, Clarence Ernest, Dorothy Nina, Loren Jasen, Harley Robert. He was a very strict man and consumed with his church and beliefs. He and his wife raised 10 children in the Christian Faith.

The year my Grandfather was born, Emporia was still in Breckenbridge Co.,Kansas. The county changed in 1862.

In his obituary he was noted as being the first white child born in Kansas.

Family Bible had his name spelled Printice but his headstone has Printiss. I went with the Bible, newspaper articals ect.

ANCESTORS:

1-James H. Doile 1830-1898 Born in Scotland, immigrated to Canada then to Kansas in time to serve in the 11th Calvery, Kansas.
m. Charlotte Sharp 1832-1889 Born in England and immigrated to USA.

2-John Doyle & Elizabeth --? Immigrated to Canada, buried in Aineleyville, Huron, Onterio (now Brussells)
William Doyle, his brother came to Kansas to join James H, after the Civil War. He lived in Hartfort, Kansas.
The 2 brothers attended a GAR meeting in Emporia and later, the decendents found a Michael Doile there too. Doile is a rare spelling being only 2 families ever entered this country. James & William were both born in Scotland but the name Doile is even a German name, rare there too.
