William Samuel Blair was born 15 Jun 1861 in Harris County, GA to Samuel A. "Sam" and Catherine B. "Mary" (Harris) Blair. He was the only child of this marriage since Sam was killed during the Civil War. He met Willie Anna Gilmore of Talbot County, GA and the sweethears were married 14 Feb 1883 in Talbot County. They moved to Van Zandt County, TX in 1900. After Willie Anna died in 1908, the Blair family remained in Van Zandt County until early 1920 when they moved to Hale County, TX. William lived with his son Cliff's family in Abernathy for a time and later with his son Guy's family in Plainview, where he died.
