The father of five, Mr. Brown had not been well for more than a year and had frequently suffered from heart disturbances. Always an active farmer, however, Mr. Brown was determined to keep going and even last week was at work re-roofing a house. He worked in his fields only last Saturday.
Funeral services will be held at ten o'clock Thursday morning at the Garrison Chapel Church. The Rev. Quincy Ferguson, assisted by the Rev. H. J. Propheter, will officiate and music will be provided by a male quartet to be selected from residents of the Garrison community.
Active pallbearers will be nephews: Oscar Hall, Russell Ranard, Fred Hall, Arthur Howard, Glenn Brown, Orville Brown, Earl Brown, Frank Richey and Hubert Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Burton Hazel, Booker Wilson, Glenn Funkhouser, Wesley Brummett, Orrin C. Jones, Claude Sanders, Harry Taylor, Thomas Phillips and Cornight Stephenson. Flower bearers will be Ruthanna Brown, Estelle Brown, Margaret Sipes, Emma Wilson, Mary Alice McMillan and Mildred Funkhouser.
The body was to be taken from the Day chapel this afternoon at four o'clock to the E. J. Brown home to lie in state until the funeral hour.
A native of the Garrison community, Mr. Brown had lived for 39 years in the home in which he died. He was the son of William J. and Mary (Rice) Brown and was one of a family of ten. On November 1, 1893, he married Lizzie Koontz, the widow who survives.

Brown of the Nashville Road, vice president, treasurer and manager of the Graham Motor Sales Company in Bloomington; Paul Brown of North Park Avenue, secretary and sales manager of the Graham Motor Sales Company; Chester Brown of Clear Creek; Ercell Brown of Freeman; and Mrs. Roy Stansifer of west of Bloomington.
