"Aint Thelma" was one of the kindest souls I've ever known.

She cared greatly for people and did many things to make them feel special and loved.

She made wonderful quilts with her mother, Nevie, on their old quilting frame in the spare bedroom at Nevie's house at 210 Kean Street in Ladonia, Fannin County, Texas. She fashioned many useful things as gifts for relatives and friends (pin cushions, beautiful embroidered pillowcases, trivets and placemats) and gave from her heart.

The thing I loved most about Aunt Thelma was the way she laughed when she got "tickled" (as she called it): you never really heard an audible laugh from her, but her shoulders would bob up and down and the sight made you want to laugh with her.

She was an adored person in our family and a very gracious, kind, and loving person who lived a hard life.

She suffered a stroke, late in life, and was moved to a nursing home close to her daughter, Ruby, and died there not too long afterwards.

I miss her, sorely...
