As I write this, my little Momma went to be with Our Lord about 11:00 p.m., last night: September 6, 2019.

Edna Lucille Newman Newman Brumett was born April 14, 1924 in Alba, Rains, Texas, USA to James Leon (Lonnie) Newman & Nevada Lee (Nevie) Thornhill Newman (Pharr).

My Mother was one of nine children of this union. She was the last surviving of the nine children:

=======================================================
- Thelma Minnie Lee Newman Hopgood Rushing
m1. James Carl Hopgood
m2. Alford Franklin (A. F.) Rushing

- Luther B. Newman
(nmn - just initial; died as teen)

- Daisy Mozelle Newman Castle Bost
m1. James F. Castle
m2. Henry Manless (H.M.) Bost

- Jesse Leon Newman
m1. Ada Ellen Corey
m2. Cathy ___________

- Elmer Roy Newman
m. Cuba Jean Yates

- Edna Lucille Newman Newman Brumett
m1. Delmer Newman (was twin to Elmer Newman - no relation to Edna)
m2. Thomas William (Bill) Brumett

- James Edmond Newman
m. Mildred Dent

- Loyce Ray (Curly) Newman
(Uncle Curly married quite a few times and I can't really remember any of their names - except Penny & "JoJo")

- Arley C. Newman (nmn - just initial)
m. Carol June Johnson
=======================================================

No one that I know of in the Newman Clan was tall. Momma was 5'2" at her tallest. She had, apparently, a lot of Choctaw heritage in her background (her hair, even at the age of 95, was still almost all jet-black), though I have not found true evidence as to where this heritage originates. Mom, when I was growing up, used-to joke that her grandfather, John Thornhill, came from Ireland and had had a marriage and family, there, and he moved to the states and "married a squaw", but I have found no history indicating that Nancy P. C. (Nan) Sweeden Thornhill's heritage is Choctaw: yet. Most of Mom's life, she battled her weight; but, when she passed, she was about 100 pounds. She could be a tough woman.

Mom married a man named Delmer Newman when she was quite young, and marriage did not last very long. Later, she met & married my Dad, Thomas William (Bill) Brumett on December 1, 1951 in Port Arthur, Jefferson, Texas, USA. They adopted my brother and myself.

Edna & Bill made their home in Irving, Dallas, Texas, USA and lived there for about 40 years. Once they both retired, they moved to their home on Lake Bridgeport, and lived there until they had to "move into town" and moved to the city of Chico, Wise, Texas, USA.

Edna & Bill were faithful members of the Morris Memorial United Methodist Church in Chico. They lived there until Dad's passing, and due to health issues, Mom moved to a nursing home in Decatur, Wise, Texas, USA.

Sadly, Mom passed away on September 6, 2019 at the nursing home. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Thomas William (Bill) Brumett, who passed away on April 16, 2008.

I will miss you, Mom. I know you, Daddy, and all your brothers & sisters are probably all happy to be together, again. Hopefully, ya'll are having a New Years Party like we used to have and dancing-up-a-storm!

I Love You, Momma.
