County Woman Dies in South
Kempton, Oct. 9 -- Mrs. William J. Woods, who resided south of Kempton, died Sunday at 5 p.m., in Davenport, Fla., where she had been visiting. She had been in ill health four years with cancer and two weeks ago went to Florida to visit her son and twin grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements will be completed upon arrival of the body from Florida.
Active in lodge work in Kempton, Mrs. Woods was a charter member of chapter no. 527, Order of the Eastern Star, and past matron of it; past noble grand of Rebekah lodge, and a member of the White Shrine in Frankfort. She was a member of the Methodist church here and the Women's Study club.
Born February 23, 1887 in Clinton county, Mrs. Woods was the daughter of Noah L. and Sarah (Shockley) Bristow. September 29, 1904, she married William J. Woods and they were the parents of three children. One daughter, Marie, died in infancy in 1906.
Surviving with the husband are two sons, Gene Woods, Route 1, Tipton, and Vaughn Woods, of Davenport, Fla., three brothers, John of Gary; Daniel, of New Winchester, and Seward, of Lafayette; five sisters, Mrs. Ethel Critchfield of Frankfort, Mrs. Iva McAlister, of Spencer, Mrs. Gladys Bogan, of Valparaiso, Mrs. Azorah Daniels, of Gary, and Mrs. Lusetta Evans, of Dorset, Ohio. Seven grandchildren also survive.
