World War II Veteran
VAUGHN E. WOODS, 90, of Davenport, died Wednesday at Palm Garden Nursing Center, Winter Haven. A native of Kempton, Ind., he moved to the area in 1931. He was a retired soil chemist, former Davenport mayor and real estate agent. He was a World War II veteran, past president of Kiwanis Club of Greater Haines City, a Mason and member of First United Methodist Church, American Legion, Veteran of Foreign Wars and Order of Eastern Star. He is survived by a son, William E. of Brandon; two daughters, Jody Murphy of Dundee and Janey Powell of Winter Haven; a brother, Gene of Tipton, Ind., four grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Lane-Holt Funeral Home, Haines City.
